JOB SUMMARY: Sustain, coordinate, and grow volunteer-led activities related to Spirit’s weekly liturgies; special prayer services; liturgical year; sacraments and funerals for members and their families, following the lectionary cycle of readings, and community prayer focus and priorities.
HOURS: Part time (16-20 hours a week). Note: Significant work will occur during evenings and weekends, with increased hours during seasonal prayer periods such as Advent and Lent, Christmas, and Holy Week.
COMPENSATION: $28.00 - $33.00 per hour depending on experience.

Reports To: Director of Community Life
Works with: Worship Committee, prayer leaders, musicians, homilists, liturgical ministers, technical ministers; Education and Formation Coordinator
Evaluation By: 360 review process led by Director of Community Life
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sustain and grow volunteer leadership of Spirit liturgical ministers (worship committee, prayer leaders, music ministers, sound and video ministers, liturgy coordinators, etc.)
Work with Spirit worship and prayer leader committees to establish annual prayer focus
Establish and sustain process for coordinating weekly liturgies including scheduling of ministers and musicians; supporting lay-homilists; etc
Provide weekly overview of worship for ministers, worship aid creators, communications contractor, teachers of children
Partner with volunteers to ensure materials related to liturgy (worship aids; slides; bulletins; etc.) are produced and available for weekly liturgy.
Work with volunteer leaders and Director of Community LIfe to create and sustain a program of ongoing training for various liturgical leadership roles.
Collaborate with the Education and Formation Coordinator and volunteer-led committees to grow youth involvement in regular Sunday liturgies
Work with staff and volunteer leaders to expand and deepen Spirit’s online community.
Work with other staff and volunteer leaders to plan and organize retreats.
Identify and recruit weekly homilists from amongst the community.
Participate in regular supervision meetings; Spirit staff meetings; and New Branches staff meetings.
Other duties as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Because we want to talk with a broad range of candidates, there is no educational requirement for this job. We are looking for candidates that have lived experience with:
Identifying, recruiting, developing, and supporting volunteer leaders
Collaborative work in partnership with teams, committees, etc.
Engaging in racial, economic, and social justice work
Work that involves prioritizing multiple significant priorities
Demonstrates flexibility, creativity, diplomacy, and patience
Previous experience with rituals, sacraments, theology, and customs of the Catholic Church
Ability to plan and organize work to meet weekly priorities
Appreciation of cultural and varied forms of worship and liturgical music
Working knowledge of technology associated with liturgy
Ability to write a prayer and plan a prayer service based on a biblical reading
Ability to lead liturgical music with instrumental accompaniment and/or vocals
Familiarity with Spirit as a congregation
Knowledge of and commitment to Catholic Social teaching and social justice
Advanced degree in divinity, religion, or related field
Knowledge of or curiosity about the teachings of Vatican II
Experience putting the teachings of Vatican II into practice as it relates to lay engagement in leadership
Excellent oral and written Communication skills
